This three day facilitated programme will provide learning in a range of leadership strategies and techniques suitable for postgraduate practice. It will inform and allow reflection upon organisational issues relevant to leadership and management within NHS Trusts and primary care organisations. It will support the integration and recognition of leadership development by trainees in their daily practice.

Learning Outcomes:

DAY ONE – Leading in the NHS
Morning
  • Understanding leadership as a concept 
  • Exploring organizational contexts 
  • Clarifying how to lead in the NHS
Afternoon
  • Working within NHS operating context (including stakeholders, complexity, financial constraints)
  • Leading with care and compassion
DAY TWO – Leading Teams
Morning
  • Exploring teams, teamwork and perspectives of teams
  • Communicating effectively across systems
  • Understanding engagement as part of healthy functional teams
Afternoon
  • Understanding the mindset and models for coaching skills in a leadership role
  • Practicing using coaching questions through experiential learning
DAY THREE – Leading Systems and Change
Morning
  • Understanding change (from the perspectives of organisations, teams and individuals)
  • Building resilience (in self and others)
Afternoon
  • Exploring leading and managing change (systems, stakeholders and culture)
  • Understanding continuous improvement techniques for project and change (tools, process and pathways)
