This is a two day programme, aimed at giving participants a greater understanding of basic research skills and how to develop those skills further, as well as a better understanding of the Research Delivery Network and how research happens in the NHS. (The cost of the course can be reclaimed from the study leave budget). This course is an introduction to the research mentor scheme. 

Learning Outcomes:

• Describe quantitative & qualitative research methodologies
• Develop an understanding of how critical appraisal skills can improve practice
• Appreciate how statistics should be used and can be abused
• Recognise how research writing and presenting skills can be developed
• The value and impact of research in the Health and Care sector
• Recognise how research writing and presenting skills can be developed
• The value and impact of research in the Health and Care sector
• An introduction to the NIHR Research Delivery Network (RDN)
• Research participant considerations and the importance of consent
• Wider career and funding and development opportunities in health and care research
