This symposium for resident doctors and dentists will showcase outstanding
senior and up-and-coming NHS leaders from a range of organisations in the
region. It is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate an active interest in
clinical leadership and to learn more about how to become a clinician leader.
The programme will include:
- Keynote addresses from Professor Namita Kumar, Regional Postgraduate
Dean, and Trudie Davies, CEO of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust
- Talks from early career clinician leaders on their leadership journey
and how they maximised opportunities in the region
- Panel discussion featuring senior leaders from the deanery, NHS Trusts
and ICB, chaired by Dr Dawn Ashley, Interim Postgraduate Dean
- A practical session on leadership opportunities for resident doctors
in training, and how to grow your skills and portfolio going forward
- A networking lunch
- Opportunity to present digital posters on the day by competitive application

Learning Outcomes:
- To
understand the importance of clinician leaders in the modern NHS
- To understand how leadership shapes the culture of an organisation and reflect on the skills required to ensure a collaborative, inclusive and supportive working environment
- To
recognise the leadership opportunities available to doctors and dentists while
in training and after CCT
