Training Day for New Training Programme Directors - Monday 24th November 2025

• To support the delegates in delivering the TPD role by helping them better understand NHSE and LET structure and functions
• To enable delegates to better understand and plan for the challenges and pressures of being a TPD by clarifying areas of core business
• To develop their knowledge of policy and practice across the educational process
• To ensure that they are better prepared when facing training or trainee issues and dilemmas, ensuring that they are able to either resolve these issues themselves or seek the appropriate support and guidance in order to do so
• To increase awareness of faculty development initiatives in order to improve and develop their cohort of trainers

Learning Outcomes:

• Gain a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities within NHSE and the LET
• Gain better insight in issues around managing an educational programme 
• An understanding of the support advice mechanisms available
• An understanding of how to evaluate and improve a training placement 
• Clarity of the educational review and appraisal process
• Clarity on the quality control and accountability procedures
• Feel better prepared to guide trainees through learning and career opportunities
• Ability to better manage those trainees whose performance does not meet requirements
• An insight into the recruitment and selection process and their role within it
