ELEVATE: Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and Bystander Training - Thursday 14th May 2026

Dr Ahmed Hegab, Associate Dean in the North East will deliver a training session on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Dr Ahmed will be joined by Dr Emily Flintoft, Clinical Leadership and Management Fellow in the North East to deliver an overview of the recently developed Bystander Training.
An introduction to Active
Bystander Training for senior leaders: A focused introduction to workplace incivility and the “5D’s”
of Active Bystander Intervention. This session will highlight the crucial role
leaders play in modelling positive behaviours and shaping a respectful,
psychologically safe workplace culture. Participants will also be signposted to
the North East Deanery Active Bystander Training teaching materials, and
further resources to support their ongoing development.
This session is recommended for:
- Existing Educational/Clinical Supervisors
- Training Programme Directors
- Heads of School
- Deputy and Associate Deans
- SAS Doctors and Dentists
- Resident Doctors and Dentists in their final year before CCT
- Directors of Medical Education
- Consultants/ GPs/ Dentists and Pharmacists considering their first educational role
- Trust Medical Education Leads
This is open to both North East and Yorkshire and the Humber colleagues.
