Clinical Research in the NHS Programme - Thursday 16th July to Friday 17th July 2026
Alternative dates for this workshop:This is a two day programme, aimed at giving participants a greater understanding of basic research skills and how to develop those skills further, as well as a better understanding of the Clinical Research Network and how research happens in the NHS. (The cost of the course can be reclaimed from the study leave budget). This course is an introduction to the research mentor scheme.
Learning Outcomes:
- Describe quantitative & qualitative research methodologies
- Develop an understanding of how critical appraisal skills can improve practice
- Appreciate how statistics should be used and can be abused
- Recognise how research writing and presenting skills can be developed
- Describe the network and its external environment
- Develop an understanding of how research is delivered in the NHS
- Consider future options for developing a career in clinical research within the NHS
- Provide evidence towards curriculum research competency
- Get a research mentor and understand the research mentor programme
