What is SuppoRTT? A Guide for Supervisors, Consultants and Rota Coordinators

Supported Return To Training (SuppoRTT) is a nationally recognised return pathway for postgraduate doctors and dentists in training, to return to training. Current data shows an increasing number of trainees looking to utilise the SuppoRTT programme to facilitate a safe return to training. This course intends to raise supervisor awareness of SuppoRTT, and to provide supervisors (old and new) with the tools and information they need to facilitate this return for trainees.

Our facilitators will explore the introduction of SuppoRTT, including why it was introduced and why more trainees are taking a break from training. Additionally, they will discuss the North East’s policy on SuppoRTT, particularly aspects around supernumerary time and enhanced supervision. There will be opportunity to ask questions of those who have gone through the process and discuss as a group the process that should be followed to ensure a safe return.

Comments from previous attendees:

  • "To attend, I got a lot from the day and came out better prepared and feel ready to help support our trainees even more."
  • "Good one! Would recommend to anybody in educational/ administrative role involving trainees."
